Es sind wie schon mal gesagt, unglaublich viele die zum Psychologen oder Psychiater wollen. Schlafstörungen, Halluzinationen, PTSD bis hin zu Suizidgedanken und/oder Versuche. Termine gibt’s erst Ende März/Anfang April bis dahin ist alles ausgebucht, oft unabhängig davon wie akut der Fall ist. Das betrifft auch andere Fachrichtungen. Die > 4000 Flüchtlinge haben EINEN Arzt im Kamp, der für jeden/jede eine Überweisung an uns im Hospital schreiben muss. Oft übernachten die Patienten vor seiner Tür oder müssen Tage warten, um von ihm angesehen werden zu können. Die Patienten sind schlicht und einfach unterversorgt und das kleine Krankenhaus verständlicherweise überfordert. Soweit überfordert dass ich schon dabei bin Griechisch zu lernen. Unsere Arbeit muss trotz allem vorangehen.

As I said before, there are an incredible number of people who want to see a psychologists or psychiatrists. Sleep disorders, hallucinations, PTSD, even suicidal thoughts and/or attempts. Appointments are mostly available at the end of March/beginning of April. until then everything is fully booked, often independent of how acut the case is. The over 4000 refugees have ONE doctor in the camp, who has to write a referral to us in the hospital for each of them. Often the patients spend the night in front of his door or have to wait days to be seen by him. The patients dont simply get enought care and treatment and the small hospital is short-staffed. So much so that I am already learning Greek. Our work must go ahead despite everything.
